The Role

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our ever expanding Product and Engineering team to define process and deliver quality improvements. As we deploy our product we’re looking to you to be the voice of the customer, helping us to ensure that they have the best possible experience.

This is not a typical QA role, so you can expect a far more involved role than just executing tests and running scripts. You can use external agencies for the heavy lifting and we’ve codified and automated a lot, but are seeking to evolve and define the QA process to support best in class CI/CD production capability, whilst you’ll continually be inspecting procedures and outputs and identifying mistakes or non-conformity issues.

Your role in the company has the potential to go beyond normal QA work; the heavy-lifting is outsourced to a 3rd party company so this will be more focused on championing best testing practices in the tech team and constantly improving reliability and robustness.

A typical week as our QA Manager might involve; 

  • Finding, and reporting on bugs, prioritising which to tackle first

  • Manual testing (regression tests, UI tests, functional tests etc.)

  • Writing automated test scripts

  • Define and execute test plans and test cases

  • Developing proactive testing plan, creating test scenarios to uncover unusual issues

  • Working with the DevOps team to ensure testing infrastructure is scalable and robust

  • Collaborating with feature teams to discuss testing strategy of new features

  • Developing overall QA strategy and working with the CTO to highlight any reliability issues

  • Coordinating with external testers providing instructions on what to try out (based on release notes etc.)

  • Stopping us from deploying things that are broken

We’re looking for someone who most essentially has; 

  • Experience with issue tracking and project management software
  • Experience with testing mobile applications (both Android and iOS, and a wide range of devices)
  • Experience testing web applications (we have internal and external interfaces to support)
  • A keen eye for detail and a natural talent for breaking things
  • Experience leading a team of QA engineers (internal or external) as we grow the team
  • Experience working with specifying the behaviour of and how best to test features
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A data-driven, analytic approach to measuring the success of our products

It’s a bonus if you; 

  • Have experience working with Favro, Slack, and Google Docs
  • Familiarity with testing tools and even better experience introducing tools, processes, and techniques to an organisation
  • Are familiar with GitHub, App Store Connect, and Google Play Store Dashboard

BSc in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
